Homekill

The quality of your meat is greatly effected by the method used to kill the animal. We only employ electro stunning methods so that we know the animal is relaxed when it is killed. Our purpose built vehicle takes your animal, offal and skin away to our Hamilton base. Once there the animal is prepared, hung and processed.

Our key aim in the killing process is your animals welfare. Some might say that it doesn't matter, but it does. If your animal is relaxed and peaceful at the time of killing its body is not filled with stress chemicals like adrenaline and potassium. These chemicals interfere with the natural aging process of the hung meat and as a result the meat from an unstunned animal is of noticeable poorer quality. Additionally the stunned animal feels absolutely no pain.

Processing Facility

If you choose to you can bring your animals to our Hamilton base. Within the butchery we maintain the highest hygiene levels. When you visit us you will notice that there is no smell in or around the building. This is because we clean constantly, investing heavily in high pressure and food industry level cleaning system. Every part of our processing area is cleaned prior daily to maintain our exemplary quality level.

Our stock mustering area is also cleaned on a daily basis. Animals brought to Hamilton are 'batch killed' to ensure that they are processed within the same time scale. This means that you can be assured of consistent quality.
